Happy Wednesday friends! First, thank you all so much for the kind blog birthday wishes yesterday! I can’t believe I started blogging a year ago, but am so grateful for everything this little part of the internet has brought me!
As you know, I was back in Milwaukee again last weekend, which means that I got to eat lots of Papa Bananas’ cooking! You all have inflated his ego, because now every time he cooks something he asks, “Are you going to take a picture of that?” followed by, “Put it on Instagram!” and “How many likes did I get?” (which he asks about 25 times) – seriously, you guys have created a monster! I’m thinking of setting him up with his own blog – “Papa Bananas Grills 4 U” or something equally as cheesy.
He may have a big ego, but Papa Bananas’ can cook! I started off Saturday morning by digging into this bad boy – scrambled eggs, with sautéed onions, celery, broccoli, zucchini, smoked sausage, and cheese. It was amazing and I definitely fought (and lost) the fight for seconds.
Sunday morning meant pancakes! Papa Bananas’ whipped up his famous pancakes (with chocolate chips for yours truly!). I’m going to miss getting my pancake fix this weekend!
Sunday afternoon at the baby shower, my uncle fed the gang. He made some sort of lemon-y chicken breast that was so flavorful, a salad, and homemade foccacia bread. The foccacia was to die for – that’s probably because of the copious amounts of butter and garlic…but that’s beside the point!
Sunday night, Papa Bananas’ brought back everyone’s new favorite – grilled romaine! This is seriously my favorite way to eat lettuce – scratch that, it’s really the ONLY way you should be eating lettuce. I had a tiny drumstick and green bean casserole with all of the lettuce. Totally balanced dinner, ha!
WELCOME TO WIAW INTERMISSION – I’m taking a moment outside of my usual eats to share the bacon sandwich that my brother ate for breakfast on Monday. Yup that’s about a half pound of bacon on low carb bread, because my brother is on the Atkins diet. Mmmhmm. The low carb bread makes it healthy, right? No words.
Monday, Kevin and I headed to Miller Park for the Brewers home opener. It was a blast! We also ate some tasty food. Like…
Hot dogs. Which cost $8.25. Now I think ball park hot dogs are basically heaven but still. That’s absurdly expensive.
Anyways. Cheese fries were also consumed.
Phew! So I’m happy to address the elephant on the blog – there’s basically nothing happening in these parts! The past couple of weeks have been too much beer and hamburgers and not enough chicken breast and stuff. And basically no exercising. Sigh. Trying to have a social life is hard. But I’m aware of the problem and am working on meal planning and such to get things back on track. So wish me luck internet!
