Happy Monday! I had a fantastic weekend in Lake Geneva, WI with my family this weekend. It was so marvelous that I of course need to link up with Katie’s Marvelous in My Monday party!
After my dentist appointment (which did not go as planned – heading back in two weeks), my mom and I got in the car and drove to my cousin Nicole’s friend, Ashley’s, house where we were spending the weekend. It was a nice short drive, and Ashley, Nicole, and my Aunt Rose were waiting for us to arrive. After a couple of quick hellos, we toured the beautiful house and then headed to downtown Lake Geneva for some shopping.
The view from Ashley’s parent’s main home on the lake. We stayed in guest house, which wasn’t on the lake, but was just as beautiful!
Marvelous is…finally getting to spend a weekend with my family after missing every family party this summer!
Marvelous is…getting to enjoy a beautiful town!
Me, outside The Riveria, where many of the boats dock. Rocking my new Brooks Running jacket! It was a tad chilly, but the city was still quite busy!
My mom and I on Friday before the boat tour we went on. The tour was one hour around the Geneva Lake Bay area and showed us all of the amazing homes that surround the lake. I can’t believe how extravagant these houses are!
Marvelous is…sharing lots of yummy meals together!
Friday’s dinner: Cheeseburgers with a cranberry, blue cheese salad that my cousin Nicole made. Tasty, tasty! (And I washed it down with a Summer Shandy, of course!)
A smoked brisket sandwich with BBQ sauce from the Taste of Lake Geneva on Saturday. It was to die for! We also sampled brats and a trio of dipping sauces from Sprecher – the Taste was definitely tasty!
Marvelous is…going to cooking class and making a FREAKING AMAZING dinner. But more on that tomorrow!
The Girls! This was before the cooking began – I can’t even begin to describe how fun this class was and how delicious our meal was!
These are just a few highlights from the weekend. We had a great balance of heading out and enjoying downtown and staying in, watching movies (Bridesmaids!) and playing games (Things, Smart Ass…). One of my favorite parts of the weekend was on Saturday night when we went to the Lake Geneva School of Cooking for a four-hour cooking class. But this was such a fun, unique experience that I’m going to tell you all about it tomorrow!
In other not so happy news, I’m still having some troubles with my feet and legs/calves. I wanted to go out for a run on Friday morning and couldn’t even make it a mile. The pain in my calves was searing. I feel like I’m reaching a point where I might not physically be able to run the half marathon in November and it’s killing me. I’m so frustrated with my body and don’t know what to do. It’s hard to finally be mentally ready to run my first half, yet physically not being able to. I’m really struggling with this and am not exactly sure what to do next. I guess I’ll keep you posted!
- How was your weekend? Did you enjoy the cooler weather we’re finally having?
- Any fun plans coming up this week?
