Happy Monday friends! I thought I’d start by letting you know that I’m feeling particularly optimistic about life after we fit this full size mattress into the back seat of my brother’s girlfriend’s tiny CR-V trunk. No one thought we could do it – but we did! It’s a good sign, right?
Anyways. I had a busy/eventful weekend back in Milwaukee. I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned, but my aunt (who is fabulous and I saw the New Kids on the Block concert with) is pregnant with twins, which is so exciting! We were planning on throwing her a baby shower this weekend – however due to reasons which I won’t get into now, she ended up being admitted to the hospital and being put on bed rest to be monitored. After much debate, we decided to cancel the baby shower.
On Saturday, I drove to Rockford from Milwaukee with my mom and dad to visit my aunt. Turns out, being on bed rest is BORING! We visited with her a bit, then headed to the Rockford Brewing Company where my aunt and uncle’s pizza company (Woodfire Brick Oven Pizza) was selling pizza. I had the Artichoke and Gorgonzola pizza with a Vanilla Porter (brewed there) – it was marvelous. What a fantastic way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
On Sunday, my mom and I got back in the car and drove to Rockford for a mini shower. We still wanted to celebrate with my aunt and had a cake to feed 50, so it seemed like a good reason to get together! We had a great time at the hospital – there were lots of presents, good food, and my almost 2 year old niece (who is actually my cousin but I call her my niece – #rebel) who kept us busy and laughing!
The cake. The shower theme was “Two Peas in a Pod” because of the twins. Cute, right?
A “Big Brother” bamdana for my aunt’s dog – cute!
Tasha and I practicing taking selfies – she loved it!
Me and Mama Bananas before the shower
We made it home Sunday night just as my dad was taking dinner off the grill – perfect timing, right? As usual, Papa Bananas made an amazing dinner (which, per his request, I did take pictures of and will share on Wednesday – he loves all the love you give him!). After dinner, we took our dog Ella for a walk and then played rummy while watching the Blackhawks then Dodgers/Padres game. It was nice to have a chill night just hanging out!
Talking strategy with Ella!
I took off work today, so in a bit, my brother, Kevin, and I are putting on our Brewers gear and heading to Miller Park for Opening Day! The weather is going to be great and there’s nothing better than watching baseball on a Monday afternoon.
- Do you watch baseball? Favorite team? I’m actually a Chicago Cubs fan, but can cheer on the Brew Crew too…
- Favorite pizza toppings?
